Proverbial Way

Ms. Shelley spoke today on what it means to be a Christian. The kids had some great thoughts, “To love God, to obey God, and to tell others about God.” Ms. Shelley says, “It means that we know Christ died on the cross for our sins and forgives us from our sins. Can we tell who is not a Christian by looking at them?” The kids said, “People who don’t follow God, or don’t go to church, or do mean things.” Ms. Shelley did a neat demonstration with eggs. The kids tried to figure out the difference between a hard boiled and raw egg. The raw eggs didn’t spin that much but the boiled egg spun fast and long. The moral to her demonstration was that what matters most is what is on the inside not on the outside. Not the shell of the egg made it spin it was the same as the raw egg, but it was the inside that was different causing it to spin. With people it isn’t what we look like on the outside that makes us a Christian but our insides, our hearts. Only God knows because only God can see our hearts. When the Lord choose David, the shepherd boy, to be king He said to Samuel about Eliab, Jessee’s oldest son in 1 Samuel 16:7, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

Proverbial Way –
Ms. Cris taught us a little science today. The moon is a big lifeless rock. The moon is gray, dusty, ugly and dead. But when the sun reflects onto the moon it shines. It is a beautiful thing that lights up the night sky. Jake and Sam did a little experiment for us by shining a flashlight onto a mirror which reflected onto the whiteboard. Ms. Cris and her boys did this demonstration to teach us that we too can reflect the light of the SON. The Son of God, Jesus, whose life, love and joy can shine through us.  We are much prettier and more useful when we allow God to use us as a vessel for His goodness. Matthew 5:16 says, “In the same way let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Ms. Cris asked,” How can we shine the light of the son in our lives?” We can share and we can help others, were two great examples the kids gave us.

Ms. Lisa spoke on contentment and I am sorry I was unable to be there, so this is all I know. L
Announcements –
Cris told us about the new change in schedule separating the 3-4 year olds and 5-7 year olds during lunch and recess. It is definitely an improvement and less chaotic. Thank you, Cris and Grace. The following ladies and their families have the Proverbial Way the next two weeks.

Proverbial Way – Gods’ Presence and Protection
Ms. Natalie and Wyatt wanted to remind us that Jesus promised in Matthew 28:20 that He would be with us always. He told this to His disciples when He ascended into heaven. But He was talking to us too. Anyone who is a believer of Christ, who has asked Jesus to live in their heart and be the Lord of their lives ALWAYS has the presence of Jesus. What a comfort, what a joy and what a gift of protection! No matter our age or size when we have Jesus we can be BBBBIG! This of course, means we can be brave by believing in God.

Proverbial Way – Ms. Grace, Wade and Elec did a fantastic job illustrating for us the difference between foolish fear and wisdom. We all struggle with fear but we need to handle it correctly. Wade was so convincing as the foolish son of the king who would hide when he was afraid but Elec showed us how to be wise like the son of the king who was careful when afraid. We will be afraid in life but some things are silly, we shouldn’t let those things capture our heart. Elec and Wade showed us how there is a tug of war between the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of light. The kingdom of darkness wants us to be fearful of everything all the time, even silly things. But God’s kingdom of light wants us to be wise and not fearful. With God’s help we can be God fearers (to have wisdom) not evil fearers.
